3. Describe, in your own words, how the following people contributed to the film.
Film producer
In the case of Big Fish, it’s not your average, ordinary movie. It’s very hard to describe even after you've seen it because it has so many elements. He didn't want to give away the whole movie in the trailer.
Film director
The story revolves around a dying father and his son, who is trying to learn more about his dad by piecing together the stories he has gathered over the years. The son winds up re-creating his father's elusive life in a series of legends and myths inspired by the few facts he knows. Through these tales, the son begins to understand his father's great feats and his great failings.
Director of photography
Cinematographer Philippe Rousselot, who filmed hope and glory and dangerous liaisons. He did the visual work which is perhaps a bit too unsubtle with scenes in the real world having a cold, washed-out look and fantasy scenes having richer color. But somehow the fantasy images have a decided Americana feel to them. In the scenes where this American fantasy works it is effective and has a different flavor from the fantasy that Burton has put on the screen in the past.
Sound director
Big Fish adapted from Daniel Wallace's novel. It tells a tear-jerking dramatic tale in the context of a wildly imaginative distortion of reality. It's lavish production values, Big Fish is the story of a dying father in Alabama who has spent a lifetime telling his son tall tales about his own youth, with most of the stories far too bizarre to be true.
4. Write an original, five-paragraph review of the film.
The story revolves around a dying father and his son, who is trying to learn more about his dad by piecing together the stories he has gathered over the years. The son winds up re-creating his father's elusive life in a series of legends and myths inspired by the few facts he knows. Tim Berton, the director who chose Big Fish, written by Daniel Wallace to be movie. He makes the scenes in American fantasy works. It is effective and has a different flavor from the fantasy that he has put on the screen in the past.
But, the best thing about the film is that it successfully challenges to make a novel to be realistic. First of all, the biggest challenge is plot story. The big fish movie that made from big fish novel, writer wrote by beautiful and emblem language. Second, playwright must translate from novel book to movie screenplay that must clear and make audience understanding. It’s very hard work but John August can do it well. Yet in duty of director, Tim Berton is success to make perfect movie. The audience can get movie and approach it.
However, don’t forget that the big fish is dramatic tale in the context of a wildly imaginative distortion of reality. At the end of the movie is happy ending because the son can find out the real life of his father. So, it make someone who like a strange and cruel ending to be disappointed.
Big Fish is the fantastic movie that suitable with someone who like to find out something in the real and it’s include with the imagination that make you exciting every times. All of you can touch with the imagination and fantastic movie.
